MYP Community Service is far more than a curriculum requirement. It serves as a profound learning experience that enables students to engage with the real world, develop genuine empathy, and embrace a strong sense of social responsibility.
Four dedicated Grade 8 students from our school established a Care for the Homeless initiative. With carefully prepared food, daily necessities and heartfelt respect, they ventured into the neighbourhoods and alleyways of Yuexiu District, reaching out to those in need and offering care, support and dignity to people experiencing homelessness.
They knelt down to communicate with sincerity and patience, listening attentively and conveying kindness through every word and gesture, lighting up the night with small but meaningful acts of goodwill.
Venturing beyond the classroom and into the fabric of community life, our students witnessed the diverse realities of the city. In the process, they planted deep within themselves the enduring seeds of kindness, compassion, responsibility and empathy.
This is truly the most inspiring and meaningful essence of MYP Community Service.
